news from over at my before the door pictures company:
This was announced in Variety a month ago or so, and we'll be talking more about it in the new year, along with other projects. But we wanted to officially post something here about our company producing a television series pilot for The CW Network called "NASHVILLE". The series takes place in the world of country music and is set in the title city. It's a scripted hourlong drama about the amazing music, struggles, and victories of a new young female country artist and a songwriter who's trying to find his way.
The series was created and written by Before The Door partner Neal Dodson and the star of USA network's "WHITE COLLAR" - actor Matt Bomer. Writer Mark Schwahn, who created "ONE TREE HILL" for The CW, will direct and executive produce. We're also thrilled that country star Brad Paisley, a dear friend of Neal, Matt, and Zachary, will be a producer as well. Brad will be writing and overseeing the music for show, sometimes appearing as himself, and bringing his relationships in Nashville to bear on the series.
More details to follow soon. We're very excited for this to be the first television project from Before The Door Pictures...
A Thanksgiving treat: our Before the Door collaborators, filmmakers Anna Martemucci & Victor Quinaz (writer of MR MURDER IS DEAD) have made a smart short film called PILGRIMS. Mumblecore (humblecore?) madness.
Happy Thanksgiving from ZQ, ND, CM and the BTD team.
Zachary's college alma mater has posted an article/interview with Before The Door partners Neal and Corey today on the Carnegie Mellon university homepage.
BTD partners Corey Moosa and Neal Dodson headed to the Long Beach Comic-Con this past weekend along with "LUCID" writer Michael McMillian, to speak about upcoming comic projects published with Archaia. They got to connect directly with fans, and Michael signed limited edition posters, as well.

At ComicCon 2009, Zachary was interviewed by CBR TV about the upcoming Archaia comic book projects, MR MURDER IS DEAD and LUCID. Watch for the Mabes/Sarmy shoutout. This interview was done right after the HEROES panel, and right before the Archaia/BTD panel.
Here's a previously unreleased poster for our short film project "BORDEAUX". If you never had a chance to see the short film, check it out below. It was made from over 15,000 still photos, and features ZQ and features five other HEROES cast members on the set.
The second project from the partnership between Zachary Quinto's Before The Door Pictures and the publisher, Archaia, will be an original comic book series - LUCID: A Matthew Dee Adventure.
"LUCID" was created by Michael McMillian, a writer and actor (HBO's "TRUE BLOOD" and many other projects) and a longtime friend of Zachary, Corey, and Neal from their days together at Carnegie Mellon.
PRESS:
Here is a link to a great interview with ZQ, CM, and ND about the projects and partnership with Archaia with writer Jesse Schedeen over at IGN.
This early teaser artwork premiered at Comic-Con on July 25th, 2009.
THE STORY:
Our nation's prayers have been answered: The stars have aligned and brought us President Jefferson Monday to lead the world into a new Golden Age. After thousands of years of promise... Camelot has returned.
Unfortunately, evil agents of darkness lurking in shadows and high positions of world power aren't willing to call it a day just yet...
Thankfully, the United States Department of Secrets has employed Matthew Dee to protect us. A descendant of Queen Elizabeth I's court magician, John Dee, Matthew is a covert spy and combat mage, trained in the ancient practice of the Mystery School Network, fighting to ensure humanity's freedom from the grip of ancient dark forces.
LUCID, a 4-issue limited series, is an action-packed fantasy for the 21st century drawing inspiration from James Bond, Arthurian Legend, and modern American mythology.

And here's a video of Michael McMillian and the Before The Door Team (ZQ, CM, ND) talking about "LUCID" on the Archaia panel at Comic-Con.
The first project from the partnership between Zachary Quinto's Before The Door Pictures and the publisher, Archaia, will be an original graphic novel.
"MR. MURDER IS DEAD" was created by Victor Quinaz, a New York-based writer and longtime friend of Zachary, Corey, and Neal from their days together at Carnegie Mellon.
Murder...
Intrigue...
Old men doing bad things...
GOULD KANE is long into his retirement as a top cop. He was once the basis for the world famous comic
strip detective THE SPOOK. But when a not-so-nice man, once nicknamed MR. MURDER, is found dead, the
events that unfold could lead Gould to a new and perhaps even greater profession in his twilight... as a very
bad man.
MR. MURDER IS DEAD lives in several worlds. It's all at once a throwback to the great staples of noir &
pulp, while at the same time examining the real-life ramifications of our characters' choices.
Here's a LINK to an article about the partnership with Archaia from ComicBookResources.
Zachary and his partners at Before The Door (Corey Moosa, and Neal Dodson) attended Comic-Con this past weekend in San Diego. The main purpose of their visit was to announce a three-book publishing deal with Archaia Comics. More details on those specific projects will be trickling out over the next few days, including artwork.
Below is an interview from Newsarama that details the new venture.
On that front, here are some thoughts from Zachary:
"As a company passionate
about telling unique stories, we're thrilled to be doing that on our projects
with Archaia. I've been immersed in the comic book world through
my work as an actor, and it feels fitting that Corey, Neal and I are diving
even further into it as producers. It's my third year in a row at
Comic-Con--Sylar, Spock and now Archaia."
And from Corey Moosa:
"I second Zachary, and add
that, as a lifelong comic book fan myself, our writers are telling some awesome
tales. We can't wait to share them."
VIDEO:
And here's a VIDEO of the first segment of the Comic-Con panel that featured Zachary Quinto, comicbook legend Jeph Loeb (who moderated the panel), Corey Moosa, Neal Dodson, Archaia director of development Stephen Christy, Archaia president PJ Bickett, and our first two writers: Victor Quinaz & Michael McMillian. Thanks to Mabes and the Sarmy for the front row video footage.

brian jarvis and i used to sling hash together at a hipster coffee shop in hollywood. that is the cornerstone of our friendship. i have never laughed so hard over a plate of greasy fries. and as i look back on that time when i was chasing something that - i know now can't be caught - i am grateful to have shared it with the likes of brian jarvis. and i am more grateful that all these years later - he still makes me laugh as hard. and he's not slinging hash anymore. he's dressing up like a crazy mid-century-style butcher covered in blood chomping a cigar. and living with a steak (the inimitable jim freeman). this is the first in a line of little offerings of work that i and we at before the door believe in - and are honored to share. they will come sporadically and in our own time. they will all come surrounded by some quiet fanfare. they will come from different points of view. but will also come from voices that we have known for many years. long before before the door. brian jarvis is the first. and i - and we - are proud to present:
